For all those having trouble updating, I recently found a way to update your phone to generic firmware. I am not aware whether this works as I have not had a chance to try this out but many have said that it did.

Instructions:

After a firmware update you need to be very careful with what you restore back to the phone. A back up to the memory card will also restore redundant data back to the phone that will stop some things from working properly with your new firmware. You should only restore things like photos, vids (withour DRM), contacts, bookmarks and nothing else otherwise you will get problems. Once you have done a firmware update you cannot go back to a previous firmware version, but if you have problems you can do the update again being very careful this time about what you restore back to the phone! Best to use pc suite to backup and not your memory card as this will usually fail. It is also better to back up what you want from your memory card and then format the memory card. DO NOT restore "data" back to the phone or memory card, make sure you "uncheck" this option! Any games you have downloaded either to your phone or memory card from your network provider will no longer work and you will have to re-download them and pay for them again. Also the same applies to music and videos that you got from your network provider, because of digital rights management these will not play either!

I did a backup to my memory card before installing the update, after doing the update and restoring the backup I can't open any text messages in my inbox. They are all there, you can see the "preview" of the message in the inbox but just does nothing if you try to open it.

Anyone else had problems like this? or know how to fix it?

if possible might go back to the old firmware.

If the NSU cannot detect your N95, download Nokia Connectivity Cable driver from nokia.com. Driver from supplied N95 CD not working with the latest NSU. It'll prompt internal error restart PC or ask to reinstall NSU.

My product code is 0548302 and it only reports that my phone has the newest firmware. I can see your phone is black. Is this the 8GB version of the N95? I don't know if there is differenses between these models as my phone is the memory card version.
